Actually, Spain is the European country with the biggest number of people out of work. The average unemployment rate in Europe is 10'3 % while in Spain it is bigger than twice: 22'8 %. More than 5.3 million Spaniards were unemployed at the beginning of the year. Spain hadn't had this rate twenty years ago. The majority of them are young people, between 16 and 24 years-old. The Spanish new government's president has said that he will improve this situation, but, all Spanish people don't believe that. In fact, there are many people that have no hope. Lot of parents are desemployed for more than two years.
All this is due to the property bubble burst in 2008. If the price of a house in 2004 was 20 million, in 2008, the same house could cost about almost 30 million. In adition, the domestic demand has also decreased a lot. Economists say Spain go into recession again in this year.
I has selected this news because I have also worked many times at the biggest Spain's company: INEM (and it is so hard!) I think that this situation will not change in several years. I believe that the new president cannot do anything for improve the bad economic situation. Only time can put things back in place.
